Noriaki Sagara, standing director of Meguro UNESCO, retired from the National Institute for Educational Research of Japan, and started his new post as the vice president of Kyoto Notre Dame Women's College.
Yasuko Yatsu, who once took Meguro UNESCO's course in teaching Japanese as a foreign language, is now a volunteer teacher for Japanese language classes sponsored by Tsukuba City.

Friendship members in the Japanese classes as well as members in other language classes have been generous in making donations. The total collection as of Feb. 9 amounted to亸55,803. Did You See 乬The Vietnam Project of the丂丂丂丂World Terakoya Movement乭?
It was televised on Feb. 9 in the program 乬Good Morning, Japan乭 on NHK. This documentary was based on the latest film offered by Mr. Okukawa, an NFUAJ staff member sent to Vietnam for the project.

The Meguro UNESCO Association has been organizing UNESCO Japanese language classes to help foreign residents learn Japanese so that they can enjoy their lives, jobs or studies while they are here. Those who have difficulty communicating in Japanese as well as those who want to brush up their Japanese are welcome.

Urgent Appeal for the Safeguard of the Cultural Heritage of Afghanistan
The supreme leader of the Taliban, a radical Islamic fundamentalist organization in Afghanistan, gave an order to destroy all statues in the country which the Taliban view as non-Islamic including the 5th century monumental Buddhist statues of Bamiyan carved in the rocks.
