The shedule for "The 12th Meguro UNESCO Youth Reteat"has been prepared.

Date: July 26th (Thu) to 28th (Sat)

Place: "Village of Nature for the People living in the Meguro Ward" in Wada Village, Nagano Prefecture

The summer camp "Youth Retreat" is managed by the Youth Activities Committee on a self-paying basis. The purpose is to deepen the understanding of UNESCO and interchange with students from overseas. This event turns out many new leaders every day. The program is being made by youth members and an application guidebook will be published soon.

It has a 12 year history and the accumulated experience has made it so substantial that an adviser who participated last year, Mr. Eiji Hattori, said in highest praise, "You are the star of hope for the future of the earth".

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Japan joining the UNESCO and also this year a new UNESCO history is about to begin as Mr. Kohichiro Matsuura, former ambassador to France, has been installed as Secretary General of the UNESCO for the first time in Asia.

Mr. Hattori agreed to be a lecturer this year too, despite his busy schedule. He is expected to enrich the mind of UNESCO as a good senior for the youth. Not only youth members but also adult members, who are expected to be advisers, are welcome to join.

The welcome party was quite a success

The welcome party, which has become an established custom, was organised by the Youth Activities Committee. It is an important event where we meet new

members at the start of the new term and take the first step towards the Youth Retreat held in summer.

The report says, "We expected 60 participants when we were making preparations, but surprisingly the numbers swelled to 75, and 49 of these were students from overseas, which is unheard of. I thought we made a good job of introducing Meguro UNESCO Association and advertising the Youth Retreat, as well as introducing ourselves though a self-introduction game prepared by staff members. But then we found ourselves become even more and more familiar with each other as we moved on to the second and the third parties."

　The camp is made by young people's own hands. We are sure that this activity will give you precious and not-forgettable experiences. Why don't you join and share the exciting moments with us!

In order to promote the world prosperity and the well-being of Human kind, we must be united with the ties of love and trust, must help each other as we are all brothers and sisters, and must advance through the paths towords co-existence and world prosperity.
