Public Relations Committee; we look forward to your participation in UNESCO peace movements. Messages are sent out via Shortnews (in English and Japanese versions), and Web pages the world over.

Youth Activities Committee
Based upon the spirit of UNESCO, the Youth Activities Committee enjoys friendship programs between Japanese students and students from abroad. The activities vary including: summer retreat camp, welcome parties, Bonen Festival (Year-end Party) and so on.

Regular meetings take place from Jan 2003.

In the past there have been comments like:
1. Staff or members in previous programs had no channel for making comments.
2. Members who had not attended previous events, yet wanted to join in planning the next program, could only make comments once they had joined that program.
3. A regular meeting venue was needed.

Future meeting topics will include creating and updating programs and launching events. They will also be a venue for members who wish to join as a staff.
The regular meeting will be held on the first Sunday of every month at Meguro UNESCO Association office (Gohongi Elementary School). Advance notice will be delivered via email and Shortnews.
Attendees are Youth Activities Committee members, advisors and anyone else interested in the committee's activities.
We believe this will be a great opportunity for anyone to attend, including perhaps someone who just clicked the committee's homepage for the first time and had an interest. It could be an opportunity for new people to join UNESCO, or attendees of a previous summer retreat might rejoin our activities.
Also, we are pleased to inform you that our homepage has been upgraded and linked to Meguro UNESCO's homepage. Please visit our homepage.

The first regular meeting will be on Jan.19 (Sun) at 14:00. If you are interested, please come along. Also, on Feb.1 (Sat) at 14:00 we will be reporting about the summer retreat and other international friendship activities at Tokyo Global Citizens Fiesta 2003 (see page 12).

Youth from as many as 65 countries have joined in the past 13 years.

We celebrated the marriage between two leaders and welcomed their new baby, who will be the next generation UNESCan. There has also been an international marriage.

Through discussions with students from abroad, one of the Japanese members has decided to study abroad. She was the person who initially reported “America rejoins UNESCO”.
