Unusually for late autumn in
Japan, the concert day was struck by stormy rain. In spite of our concern, the
audience gathered at the hall earlier than we expected, so we opened the door
earlier than scheduled. As we received a larger audience than expected, the
staff members determined to give up their seats if some more invited guests
came. The concert started with
only a few seats left vacant.
It was readily observed that Ms Fog and the Vienna Philharmonic
Orchestra have many deep-rooted fans. In the second part, Chopinfs Piano
Concerto was performed by the string quintet. As was commented gthe performance
was considered to be a first in Japanh, it was a unique composition of players.
This showed off the skill and talent of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
members. When performers enjoy their performances, the audience enjoy the
concert, too. Especially, Yoko Fogfs performances were in a good harmony with
the quintet, some time her piano led the strings, and other times the piano
melted into them, as if the music was performed by a full sized orchestra, her
performance entertained us with marvelous sounds. Ms Fog has already promised
us to perform at this yearfs UNESCO Concert, which will be a celebratory
concert for Meguro UNESCO Associationfs 50th anniversary. We are looking forward to
it. (Written

Pictures, crafts, Japanese calligraphy, photos, etc.c Along with the works of art produced by the artists from Meguro UNESCO Association, many picture diaries drawn by children from Asian countries were also exhibited. Splendid works of stained glass and hard pastel drawings made by the students of the UNESCO Art Classes added a cheerful atmosphere to the exhibition room.
Although we were impressed by the excellence
of works
which were made by the artists who attend the exhibition every year, the
attractiveness of the stained glass made by students who have just learned how
to make them and the potential of their abilities of expressions shown by
children drew our attention also. We are also delighted that more new members
and young members have been very positive to exhibit their works of art. This
exhibition proved the richness of the relationships between the members through
UNESCO activities.
