◎ 青年の手による企画運営 ◎
リトリートの企画運営は目ユ協の青少年対象活動
委員会が行っている。（委員長は学生の伊藤清之、チーフリーダー:井上 卓、学生リーダー:山本寛子、遠山 寛、荻野智行、留学生リーダー:オヌル・カイナック）。企画運営の難しさと楽しさは前頁で伊藤委員長自ら述べているので是非ご覧いただきたい。準備のミーティングだけで９回も実施している他に、独立採算の行事であることも苦労のしどころといえる。参加者から徴収する会費をどこまで抑えられるか、参加費が安い留学生が多すぎた場合プログラムの進行ばかりでなく財政赤字の心配もある。しかし余程のことがない限り、理事会に泣き言を言わないことが青年達の栄誉ある伝統となっている。
◎ ２１世紀を見据えたテーマ ◎
「次世代に必要なもの、無くしたいもの」が今年の
メインテーマ。そしてディスカッションのサブ・テーマには「文化間相違・死刑・国際結婚・幸福の意味・インターネット依存・マスメディア・自殺・社会における青年ボランティア活動」の８つが掲げられた。参加者に配られた手引きには、各項目について日英両国語で議論のポイントが詳しく説明されるなど、今年のリーダー達の準備は周到だった。２１世紀を見据えて、自分たちに「平和のために何が出来るか」との問いを持ったプログラム作りになっていた。三日間の成果を模造紙一杯に書き上げ、グループ毎に発表し、最終日講師代表の講評を聞く。昨年に引き続き服部英二氏が講評を引き受けてくださり、ユーモアのなかに国際結婚を奨めたのはご自分の経験をふまえた、ほほえましくかつ青年には魅力たっぷりな講評であった。
◎ リピーターの支援 ◎
青年達の見違える成長ぶりも大きな成果である。リトリート１１年の歴史の間には学生は職業に就き、ボランティア活動に参加しにくくなる時期もある。しかし再びOBや、ヤングアドバイザーとしてリトリートに参加する姿が見られるようになった。又参加できない人も準備期間を通じ様々なアドバイスを与えたり、バスの見送り出迎えに参加するなど物心に及ぶ支援は大きいものがある。

My impression about the Unesco's retreat.
Well,The Unesco's retreat is a good opportunity to make friends, enjoy
and learn about many different cultures. Like mister Hector, the last retreat
was my fourth one. Since 1997, the retreat has changed some things and
every year it's becoming more dinamyc and interesting. Eventhough we can
not play soccer or volley more time, the time that we spend with each other
in differents activities is very enjoyable. So what activities are more
interesting to me there?

Well, I like 4 activities, the first one is the discussion time of every
topic previouly selected by the staff, it's really a good time to share
our problems and hopeness and understand better each other. The second
one, is the Hanabi's cerimony , where we gather together for dancing, singing
and etc...it's very interesting to see the talents of the participants.
The third one,is the explanation made by
Unesco's guests about some topic, and the last one is the free time that
we have in the 2 nights. In this free time, some participants gather each
other to dance or play in one of the lodges, and others people like to
go down in the big green ground in order to see the stars. I try to do
both. The last retreat was full of these good moments and joy.
These are the best impression that I've. I hope we can continuing meeting
each other several times and also next year.
I'd like to express my gratitude for every one who made his/her best
in the retreat.
Finally, I'd like to take this advantage to express my wish of success
to all members of Unesco.
