Editor’s Note

*The year 2004 started off with dark clouds over Iraq still threatening the world. *Meguro UNESCO’s year began on Jan. 17, with the New Year’s Party held at St. Paul’s Church. It was an international gathering of people of more than a dozen nationalities, 130 peace-loving participants in all, and with various dishes of different countries brought by our members. Next came the first Secretariat meeting of the year, and the first PR Committee meeting joint with some English Short News staffs. *In the PR meeting, a variety of opinions were presented on issuing a “call for children’s poems” ? the poems would be put together in a collection, as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Meguro UNESCO. *New plans were also proposed so as to make Short News more attractive. One idea was the creation of this editor’s note, which would hopefully hint to the readers what we are doing. And here I am, ending up having to fill up this space. The first PR Committee meeting of the year was full of energy. *Let’s blow the dark clouds off the world with our energy!  (Y.S.)
